VIMEKON’S SUPERIOR FEATURES IN PREVENTING AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF)

VIMEKON’S OUTSTANDING FEATURES IN PREVENTING AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF)

African swine fever is caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV) and affects pigs of all ages. The current genetic diversity of ASFV has created a major challenge in disease control. Vietnam has recorded the genetic diversity of ASFV strains (including the predominant genotype II strains and the emergence of recombinant strains between genotype I and genotype II at a significant rate), creating complexity in disease diagnosis and surveillance. The diverse circulation of ASFV strains leads to clinical and pathological diversity in outbreaks in local areas. Outbreaks occur more frequently on farms, especially medium and small farms, and it is very difficult to diagnose based on clinical signs alone; laboratory PCR or Real-time PCR results are required.

Currently, ASF is occurring in many places; therefore, biosecurity measures should be implemented, including full vaccination against infectious diseases according to the procedures of each livestock facility, strengthening the animals’ resistance, and maintaining strict barn hygiene.
