Hà Tĩnh shrimp farmers - ready for the 2025 spring-summer shrimp farming season

Entering the spring-summer shrimp farming season of 2025, shrimp farmers in Hà Tĩnh are actively investing in and renovating their pond systems in the hope of a bountiful harvest.

Shrimp farming households in Hà Tĩnh City are urgently completing pond renovations for the spring-summer shrimp season of 2025.

UPGRADING INFRASTRUCTURE, APPLYING TECHNOLOGY

After studying technical procedures from many localities, Mr. Đào Xuân Tĩnh (Yên Hòa Commune, Cẩm Xuyên) decided to invest more than VND 2 billion to upgrade a closed-loop, three-stage super-intensive shrimp farming model. The water storage and treatment pond system has been systematically built on an area of more than 2 hectares. At present, Mr. Đoàn Xuân Tĩnh has stocked more than 2 million postlarvae, hoping to achieve 30 tons per crop.

Two-stage and three-stage intensive shrimp farming is being invested in by many shrimp farmers.

LOCALS ARE EXCITED, READY FOR THE SEASON

In many earth-pond shrimp farming areas following extensive and semi-intensive models such as Xuân Hội, Cương Gián (Nghi Xuân), Kỳ Trinh, Kỳ Ninh (Kỳ Anh Town), etc., people are urgently completing pond renovations and getting ready to stock. The family of Mr. Lê Thế Liên (in Hà Tĩnh City), with more than 2 hectares of farming area, has spent nearly VND 50 million renovating the pond system, liming for disinfection, filtering water, etc., and is expected to stock shrimp in mid-April.

Hà Tĩnh shrimp farmers are hoping for a successful farming season.

Hà Voọc Aquaculture Cooperative (Hà Tĩnh City) is also focusing on completing infrastructure and preparing to stock more than 12 million white-leg shrimp postlarvae and 1 million black tiger shrimp postlarvae on an area of 40 hectares.

SUPPORT FROM AUTHORITIES AND SPECIALIZED UNITS

With the province’s total shrimp farming area expected to reach 2,250 hectares and more than 800 million postlarvae, specialized agencies have stepped up environmental inspections, shrimp sampling, and recommendations for people to comply with technical procedures.

Specialized agencies regularly inspect the environment, collect wild shrimp samples to test for pathogens, and issue notices and recommendations to farmers.

With careful preparation from local farmers and the support of authorities, the spring-summer shrimp season of 2025 is expected to bring a bountiful harvest, contributing to a total aquaculture output of more than 17,000 tons across the province.
