Hai Phong sets a target for livestock production value in 2026 to reach nearly VND 13.5 trillion

Hai Phong City is implementing a restructuring of its livestock sector toward higher production value, aiming for the sector’s total production value in 2026 to reach nearly VND 13.5 trillion, up nearly 3% from 2025.

Hai Phong City aims for a total poultry flock of 27.8 million in 2026, including 20 million chickens.

INCREASING THE SCALE OF LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY HERDS

According to the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Environment, to achieve the above goal, the city is focusing on expanding livestock herds according to specific targets:

  • Total pig herd: nearly 656,000 head, up 4% from 2025.
  • Total poultry flock: 27.8 million birds, up 4%, including about 20 million chickens.
  • Live pig meat output for slaughter: 272,200 tons.
  • Poultry egg output: 906.4 million eggs.

For buffalo and cattle herds, the city is targeting a reduction of 5–6% compared with 2025.

STRENGTHENING DISEASE PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Alongside expanding scale, Hai Phong aims to raise the vaccination rate against infectious diseases in livestock and poultry to more than 80% of the total herd, helping ensure disease safety and stable production.

2025 RESULTS LAY THE FOUNDATION FOR 2026

In 2025, the city’s livestock production value reached VND 13,047 billion, up 3.42% from 2024 and exceeding the set plan by 1.04%. This is an important basis for Hai Phong’s livestock sector to continue maintaining growth momentum and achieve its 2026 target.
